The workshop will seek to produce two key outputs to which all attendees are invited to contribute: an annotated bibliography of PA recommended readings and a envisioning paper for the future of PA research.
Annotated Bibliography
Twenty years of research has produced an almost nonnavigable sea of literature, where contradictory recommendations and mixed results are the norm. The first aim of the workshop is to identify the best published papers and resources for the synthesis and interpretation of empirical findings on pedagogical agents. Attendees will be invited to make suggestions and build what we hope to be an important resource for the community. A starting list is suggested in the background section of this website.
Envisioning article on the future of PA research
The second tangible output of the workshop will be a group statement of what we believe is the most important next steps for the scientific study of PAs and possible future for them in education, lifelong learning, and society. Notes from the workshop presentations, panel, and discussion periods will feed into this vision and for those attendees interested, a publication will be prepared for a leading journal, such as IJAIED or IEEE TLT (please indicate in the final question of registration if you wish to contribute).
